Sarah Ann JOHNSTON * James
CARROLL
Sarah Ann Johnston was born 5 May 1826 in Georgia. She married James Carroll on 19 January 1949 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. James was born in 1829, the son of William and Mary Carroll. They were living close to William Carroll and John Johnston in 1850. James was a Confederate soldier, serving with Company B, 18th Alabama Infantry Regiment.
Sarah Ann died 16 July 1880 and James married Olive Latham on 24 August 1881 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. James and Olive had three children. Olive, born 1 January 1862 and died on 23 September 1893. James married a third time to Lou Hartley. James died in 1911.
Sarah and James, along with his parents William and Mary Carroll are buried in the Union Cemetery near the Union Methodist Church close to Dadeville and Martin Dam. Also buried there is Olive, James' second wife.
