Young JOHNSTON * Lucinda J. GRAY
Samuel Young Johnston was born on 01 April 1832, in Harris County, Georgia, according to his tombstone . He was the son of John and Martha Johnston. He married Lucinda J. Gray on 16 February 1854 in Tallapoosa County. Lucinda J. Gray was born on 23 October 1838 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, the daughter of Samuel Gray Jr. and Mahala McBurnett. Samuel served in the Civil War with Company B, 47th Alabama Regiment.
Lucinda and Samuel moved to Runnels County at about the same time as her brother, Columbus Gray. They lived there in Runnels County for the remainder of their lives. Samuel died on 21 February 1901 and Lucinda died on 24 November 1921. They are buried in the Northview Cemetery in Winters, Texas.
