Rev. James Edward GUTHRIE

Rev. James Edward Guthrie was born on 22 October 1820 in Edgefield District, South Carolina. He was the son of Benjamin Franklin Guthrie. He married Sarah Burnett on 24 December 1840 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Sarah was born on 12 August 1810 in Dudleyville, Alabama. Sarah died on 28 January 1859.

James married Samanta Teel on 21 May 1859 in Alabama. She was the daughter of William Teel and Mary Griffin Campbell and was born on 15 June 1834 in Dadeville, Tallapoosa County, Alabama. James had a brother Thomas, who raised a family in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

James died on 29 November 1898 in Old Center Port, Tallapoosa County, Alabama and is buried in the Old Center Port Cemetery. Samanta died on 27 February 1924 and is buried in the Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery, Macon County, Alabama.
