William M. GRAY

William M. Gray was born in 1844 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. He married Frances Idonia Caldwell on 16 May 1866 in Green County, Georgia. Frances was born in October 1844.

They are found on the 1870 census living in Tallapoosa County as well, along with two children.

William served with Company B, 47th Alabama Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. He was wounded and lost the use of his right arm in the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.

William and Frances moved into the Confederate Home in Austin, Travis County, Texas in 1920.

William died on 5 February 1921 at the Confederate Home.. Francis died on 2 January 1929. They are buried in the State Cemetery, Austin, Travis County, Texas.

• Annie Ophelia GRAY, born 3 March 1882 in Caldwell County, Texas, died 21 March 1965 at the Shady Acres Nursing Home in Austin, Travis County, Texas, buried at Capital Memorial Gardens, Austin, Texas, married Thomas R. Johnson
• John Thomas GRAY, born about 1883, married Mary Lou Wise; Mary Lou, born 25 February 1886 Texas, parents were D. R. Wise and Ella Hardcastle, died 21 September 1919 in Austin, Texas of a miscarriage, buried Oakwood Cemetry, Austin, Texas; had five daughters
