Samuel J. "Tiger" Gray was born 9 February 1842 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. He married Eveline Cordelia "Pink" Lyon on 04 July 1864 in Tallapoosa County. Eveline was born on 3 August 1843 in Georgia and she died on 19 June 1916 in Van Alstyne, Texas. Samuel died 27 November 1927 in Van Alstyne, Texas of senility at the home of his son, T. E. Gray.
They had at least the following children:
