John Wallace GRAY * Mollie A. C. JOHNSTON

John Wallace Gray was born on 01 July 1859 (1866 - death certificate) in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. He married on 07 October 1881 in Tallapoosa County to Mary "Mollie" Ann Celeste Johnston. Mollie was born on 13 April 1863 at Walnut Hill, Tallapoosa County. She was the daughter of William Johnston and Rebecca Jane Smith.

William Johnston was the son of John and Martha Johnston. William's brother, Samuel Young Johnston, married John Wallace's aunt, Lucinda J. Gray. Rebecca was the daughter of Tolliver W. and Catherine Smith.

John Wallace and Mollie moved to Louisiana, Claiborne Parish, where their first two children were born. They later moved to Llano County and had the next two children, before moving to Kerr County where the last three children were born. They later moved to San Antonio. John's death certificate listed his occupation as retired realtor.

Mollie died on 17 March 1933 in San Antonio. She's listed as buried in the Knights of Pythias Rest Cemetery in San Antonio. John died on 04 September 1937 in the M & S Hospital, San Antonio. Burial for John was in the San Jose Cemetery, San Antonio.

They had seven children:

• Gertrude Willie "Trudy" GRAY, born 08 August 1894
• Ulery J. GRAY, born 26 December (3 June - death certificate) 1899, occupation optometrist, listed as divorced on death certificate, died 29 January 1946 at the V.A. Hospital, in Legion, Kerr County, Texas, buried Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery
