B. GRAY * Amanda Lucy PATTILLO
Columbus B. Gray was born in Georgia, Meriwether County, on 01 November 1828. After his family moved to Alabama, he married Amanda Lucy Patillo on 08 September 1852 in Tallapoosa County. Amanda was the daughter of Rev. John Robert and Emily (Payne) Patillo, John was the son of David and Sarah Pattillo of Charlotte County, Virginia, and David was the son of George Alexander and Martha Varner Pattillo. George Pattillo was born in Scotland in 1720. Columbus and Amanda had eight children before they moved the family to Runnels County, Texas in 1885.
Columbus was a confederate in the Civil War, enrolling at Newfalla, Alabama in 1862 and discharged at Lee's surrender at Appomattox in 1865. Columbus was with Co. B 47th, Alabama Infantry Regiment.
Columbus died on 26 December 1900 and Amanda died 02 September 1914. They are both buried in the Midway Cemetery in Coleman County, Texas alongside his brother Johnathan.
