Asbury BURSON * Martha Jane VINEYARD
James Asbury Burson was born in March 1836 in Cherokee County, Alabama. He married Martha Jane "Bunner" Vinyard on 28 September 1856 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Martha was born in September 1833, the daughter of William and Margarette Vineyard. They lived in Tallapoosa County before moving to Elmore County, Alabama between 1867 and 1869. James enlisted in the Confederate army and served with Company B, 47th Alabama Infantry Regiment, having been wounded in the leg at Darbytown, Road, Virginia. James and Martha later moved to Strong, Union County, Arkansas, where James ran a general store near his home. James died on 28 April 1916 of malarial fever. Martha died on 02 August 1917. They are buried in the Sweet Home Cemetery in Union County, along with several of their children.
