Joshua Howell was born 1836, the son of Joshua Howell and Mary Buce. He married in 1855 to Evaline H. Tucker, who was born on 12 October 1839.
Joshua enlisted in Company B, 47th Alabama Infantry Regiment during the Civil War conflict. He was killed on the second day of fighting at the Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, 2 July, 1863. Shortly after this time, Evaline moved her family to Texas, settling in Freestone County. She died there on 21 June 1926 and is buried in the Union Cemetery in Freestone County.
