Salina Clemmie BROWNING * William Hamilton STEPHENSON

Salina Clemmie Browning was born about 1830 in DeKalb County, Georgia, the daughter of Wiley Browning and Delilah Tankersley. She married 8 July 1849 in Chambers County, Alabama to William Hamilton Stephenson. William was born 2 December 1817 in South Carolina, the son of James S. and Margaret Stephenson. They are found living in Chambers County, Alabama in 1850 and in Tallapoosa County in 1860, 1870 and 1880. William died on 21 February 1910 in Dadeville, Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

William served with the 24th Alabama Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. He was wounded in the left elbow during the Battle of Atlanta in 1864 and was discharged in 1865. William later lived in Gabbett, Macon County, Alabama and later died in Dadeville on 21 February 1910. William is buried in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Unsure of death date and burial place of Salina Browning Stephenson.
