Since George's family bible was destroyed in a house fire, at which time he also lost his wife (burned to death) no record has been found showing his connection. In those early days, a young man often left home and worked in lumber camps, wandering from one place to another. Girls went to work as servants in other homes and boys did this also.
There is a generation gap between records given in The Tingley Family, published in 1910, and the 1851 census records of Canada. Records have been found for most of Tingley name in this seventh generation except for Benjamin's older children and his oldest brother Daniel (his marriage and his family). His brother William had a large family of boys and went to Nova Scotia before the first census of New Brunswick, so it is easy to assume that a son of Benjamin could also have gone to Nova Scotia. George is found there with his wife and children in the first census record of Nova Scotia, 1871. William had a son George but he is accounted for, with proof.
Since writing the above, the following written by an elderly man has been received: "Now re- George Tingley's father, I can only pass along a story told me by my father.
"When we lived in B.C., my father got well acquainted with Stephen Tingley who came from Sackville, N.B. He, Stephen Tingley, claimed some relationship with George and told my father that George, as near as I can recall, was a cousin of his. I am sorry that I am unable to give you anything more definite." Therefore, it is assumed that George was a grandson of William's and his record will thus be found as 08-00141 but as a grandson of 06-00024.
In 1861, census, only his second wife and young son Ben are shown with him. However, the 1871 census shows his son Thomas, a saddler, still single, with Benjamin, his second wife, and young son Ben. At age 71, Benjamin probably needed the help of his older son Thomas.

Sarah 12 was known as "The Lame Tailoress"; had a fever sore. She went about making men's suits at their homes. She walked with a pronounced limp. The story is told that "When Sarah was about ten years old she was out walking one evening with an older girl and they were told by some men, or boys, to hurry home because there were bears around. Terrified, the girls ran frantically for home, and to keep up, the younger girl, Sarah, apparently overdid the pace, and she, who up until that time, always had good health, began to develop from that night on, her permanent lameness." She lies buried at Waterside.27
