Ezra was a farmer. His older brother, Robert, was one of the nine partners who left Attleboro in April 1790 seeking to establish new homes on new lands farther west. Having found a good spring in a pleasant valley above the great bend in the Susquehanna River in May of that year, they bought land and created a new community which they first named "Nine-Partners", PA. It was later renamed "Harford". Ezra returned to Attleboro to marry and return with his bride to Harford. After Lucy's death Ezra moved to Weedsport, Cayuga Co., NY, probably in 1814, where he bought land. He remarried after 1816 and was again a widower before his death and before he made his will on Jan. 5, 1838. The will was proved in the Surrogate's Court at Auburn, NY Feb. 6, 1838. At the time of his death he was a resident of Cato in Cayuga Co. His will lists the names of ten children, five born to each of his two wives.
