Mr W.A. Webb & Miss Timms [cousin of his wife-to-be]![]() |
|
William Arlent Webb was a keen historian (I have his research including large scrapbooks) and an early amateur photographer.
The photos below (sadly rather fuzzy and damaged) were taken around 1895 of Cecil Thompson and her cousins in Tingewick. The negatives were recorded in a book - where I have been able to identify them, the captions are those of WAW himself
In the first two groups - captioned "Misses Thompson, Alcock, Timms & Steeden" - Miss Hannah Alcock (1841-1922) - aged 54 in 1895 - is standing 2nd from the left. She was the sister of William Arlent Webb's mother. The remaining ladies were all descendants of Richard King. The young girl sitting may well be Miss Lily Matilda Steeden (1879-1958) who would then have been 16; and the others would be three of her cousins - William's bride-to-be Cissie (Cecil) Thompson (1866-1930) and/or her sister Annie (1868-1905), who married John Collingridge, along with one or two of the older Timms cousins - Bertha (1870-1923); Florence (1871- ); Rosa (1873-1902) and Ada (1875-1960) (Mabel (1884-1965) would have been too young)
