New York State Historical Fiction I've read
Historical fiction is fictional stories in a historical setting: fictional characters meet historical personages and are involved in actual historical events. I have lately discovered that historical fiction is a great way to get an inside view of what my ancestors may have experienced. I have searched out books set in the time and place they lived.

Good. Terms used in horse-racing lost me. Also includes a hunt, a dogfight, early autos. |

Includes Paul Revere's ride. Morality a bit too black-and-white for me, but a fine read. |

Fantastic! Took place when and where my ancestor Sylvanus TRAVIS was there, the settling of the area. |

Good. As you can see from locations, it's broad. Described a wagon train, fur hunting, friendly indians, southern city and plantation life. |

Very good. Wrenching in parts. |

I was interested in it because my ancestors Lion GARDINER and David GARDINER are in it, but unfortunately the book gives a very annoyingly one-sided story. The snippets of historical events were confusing. Not recommended. |

I was interested because my possible ancestors SMITH were in that area at that time. Too wordy for me. I gave up. |
