This agreement made this 21st day of January AD 1882 between Christian Hauck of the first part and Harriett A. Cole of the second part witnesseth that whereas a marriage is inteded to be had between the parties of the first and second part and whereas the said party of the first part is possessed of certain real estate to wit Lots (5) & (6) Block (24) and Bl Lot (15) in Block (18) all in the village of Loup City in the County of sherman and State of Nebraska according to the plat thereof recorded in the office of the County Clerk of said County of Sherman and whereas in consideration of said intended marriage and of other good and valuable considerations the said party of the first part has agreed to transfer such real [estate] listed above named to the party of the second part. Now therefore in consideration of the premises and fan and Dollar paid (by the second part) said party of the second part to the party of the first part the receipt wherof is hereby acknowledged the said party of the first doth hereby grant and convey to the sid party of the second part the said real estate to hold the same to her the said party of the second part her heirs and assigns forever in Witness whereof the siad Christian Hauck has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.

The only thing he could do was stay the night, and the only bed available to him he would have to share with Grandpa Cole who snored badly.
