Rebecca "Myrt" Thurman was born 04 March 1885 in Lone
Star, Delta County, Texas (Vol: 12, p 515). She married Wesley
"Wes" Blalock 24 December 1909 in Hopkins County, Texas
(Vol 13, p 83), son of Thomas Blalock and Matilda Bowen. He was
born 11 November 1885

Funeral
Services for Genevieve Thompson, 74, of
Winnsboro, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday,
Oct 12, in Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel, with
the Rev. L. B. Morgan and the Rev. Onan Gardner
officiating.
Burial will be in
Restlwan Memorial Park with Walter Gentry, Pat
Bailey, Jerry Norton, jack Bowen, Pat Bowen and
Jerry Thurman serving as pallbearers.
The family will recieve
visitors fro (sic) 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct.
11, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Thompson died at7:45
p.m. Monday, Oct 9, in Mission Manor Nursing
Home, Mount Vernon.
She was born Dec. 4,
1914, in Hopkins County to Wes and Myrtle R.
Thurman Blalock. She married Bill Thompson Sept,
23, 1956, in Como. He survives.
Mrs. Thompson was a
retired research tecnicial with a Veteran's
Administration hospital and a 15-year resident of
Greenpond. She was a member of Sharon Baptist
Church, Chapel Hill. She was also a member if the
Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the
Nile.
She was preceded in death
by one brother, C. M. Blalock, in 1977.

Maurice Blalock
of the Greenpond community dide Tuesday at 9:55 p.m. in
the Woodhaven Nursing Home following a long illness. He
was 59.
Born in Hopkins County Dec.
6, 1917 he was the son of Wess and Myrtle Thurman
Blalock.
A retired Air Force master
sergeant and veteran of World War II he married the
former Opal Audry Berry in Terrell in 1954. She preceded
him in death in 1973.
He is survived by a sister,
Mrs. Genevieve Thompson of Greenpond and three aunts.
Funeral service will be at
2 p.m Friday in the Tapp Funeral Home chapel with he Rev.
L. B. Morgan and the Rev. Carl Acker officiating.
Interment will be in the
City Cemetery with Jimmy Lanford (sic), Jerry Norton, Pat
Bailey, Johnnie Bailey, Walker Gentry, and Buck Byers
serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Blalock Dies Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Wes Blalock, Route
2, Sulphur Springs, were held at 2 p. m. Sunday at the
Como Baptist Church. Mrs. Blalock died Friday afternoon
in Fort Worth.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Lester McKinney and
the Rev. L. B. Morgan. Burial was in Restlawn Memorial
Park.
Mrs. Blalock was born March 14, 1885 in Texas, the
daughter of Elija and Lena Derberry Thurman.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. William
E. Thompson of Fort Worth; a son, A. M. Blalock of Tyler;
three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Sparkman of Hawkins, Mrs.
Odena Detwiler of Kansas and Mrs. Mildred Aldrich of
California; and two brothers, D. A. Thurman of Sulphur
Springs and Dr. W. E. Thurman of San Angelo.
Palbearers were Paul Martin, Dewey Coker, Otis Kight,
Bernard Lynch, Bill Estes, and Paul Kidd.
The Tapp Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.

Wes Blalock died 01 April 1963 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County,
Texas.

Set Wednesday
Funeral services for Wes Blalock of Fort
Worth, who died Monday morning in a Fort Worth hospital,
will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Como Baptist
Church.
The Rev. Lester McKinney and the Rev. L. B. Morgan will
be in charge of services. Burial will be in Restlawn
Memorial Park.
Mr. Blalock, who was 77, was a native of Hopkins County.
He was born Nov. 11, 1885, the son of Thomas and Matilda
Bowen Blalock.
Survivors include a a son, A. M. Blalock of Tyler, and a
daughter, Mrs. William E. Thompson of Fort Worth.
The Tapp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
