Francis Marion "Frank" Ponder was the son of Charles William and Mary Ponder. He was born 18 May 1864 in Ouachita County, Arkansas. Census records indicate he was the last of four children born to the couple. Francis Marion moved from Ouachita County and was living in Prairie Bayou Township in Hot Springs County, Arkansas when the 1880 census was taken. He had lost his father and was living with his widowed mother; two older brothers, John T. R. and James H. Ponder; and one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Ponder.
Francis Marion Ponder married (1) Alice M. Lewis 07 February 1884 in Lewisville, Lafayette County, Arkansas (Vol: D, p. 145). She was born Abt. 1865, and died Bef. 1891 in Gregg County, Texas. She is buried in Alpine Cemetery in Longview, Gregg County, Texas
Francis Marion married (2) Georgia Zenobia "Nobie" Whatley 30 December 1891 in Longview, Gregg County, Texas (#189).

Nobie was the daughter of Hiram Whatley and Georgia Ann F. Stone. She was born 24 December 1874 in Longview, Gregg County, Texas.

Georgia Zenobia "Nobie" (Whatley) Ponder had a heart attack and died in at her home in Reily Springs, Hopkins County, Texas on 23 October 1944 (Vol: 8, p. 509). She had lived in Reily Springs 45 years when she died. Funeral services were held 25 Ocotber 1944 in the Methodist Church in Reily Springs. She had 1 brother living: Eddie Whatley of Longview, Texas and 2 sisters: Mrs. R. E. Attlesey of Route 2 in Sulphur Springs and Mrs. Alla Adrian of Longview, Texas (Tapps Funeral home record) Nobie is buried alongside Francis Marion Ponder in Reilly Springs Cemetery in Hopkins County, Texas.
