Dixie Caroline Crowder was the daughter of Green Ham and Virginia C. Bromley Crowder. She was born 06 January 1862 in Hopkins County, Texas. Dixie married Joseph R. Duncan 13 November 1878 in Hopkins County, Texas (Vol: 4, p: 78). He was born 1846 and according to census records was born in Alabama.

Children of DIXIE CROWDER and JOSEPH DUNCAN are:

  1. Benjamin Green Duncan was born 01 July 1881 in Hunt County, Texas near the small town of Merritt. He married Lillie Alice Williams 10 October 1909 in Hunt County, Texas (Vol: O, p. 462) She was born 28 January 1886 in Hunt County, Texas. Lillie was the daughter of Richard Stegall Williams and Margaret Ann Crowder. Ben Duncan died 13 March 1913 in Celeste, Hunt County, Texas and is buried in Celeste Cemetery (Hogeye), Hunt County, Texas. Lillie Alice Williams married 2) A. S. Nelson 26 August 1914 in Hunt County, Texas (Vol: R, p. 274) According to one of her descendants, Alice died 20 March 1925.
     
  2. Beulah Duncan was born 19 February 1882 and died 10 July 1975 in Grapevine Memorial Hospital in Tarrant County, Texas. Beulah Duncan married Orel Otto Pinkerton 14 August 1904 in Hunt County, Texas (Vol: M, p: 132). He was the son of Robert Milton Pinkerton and Nancy E. Clements. Orel was born 28 June 1870 in Texas and died 22 September 1946 in Celeste, Hunt County, Texas. They are buried in Pike Cemetery in Leonard, Collin County, Texas.
     
  3. Willie Lou Duncan was born 30 June 1884 in Texas and died 07 December 1952 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas (Death certificate). She married Dan R. Scott 10 February 1901 in Hunt County, Texas (Vol: K, p: 248), son of Lee and Mary Scott. He was born 08 November 1877 in Louisiana and died 15 January 1949 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas (Death certificate). They are buried in East Mount Cemetery in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas.
     
  4. Thomas Gilbert Duncan was born 13 June 1887 in Riley Springs, Hopkins County, Texas (WWI Draft Registration Card) and died 20 February 1951 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. According to his death certificate, he was a service station operator and he lived in Celeste. Mrs. D. R. Scott signed the record. Thomas married Nettie Taylor 04 May 1910 in Hunt County, Texas (Vol: P, p. 83). She was born about 1892, possibly the daughter of Samuel and Minerva Taylor.
    T. G. Duncan is buried in Celeste Cemetery (Hogeye), Hunt County, Texas.

  5. Virginia "Virgie" Duncan was born 14 August 1889 in Hunt County, Texas. She married Lee Ray 09 January 1919, Hunt County, Texas (Vol: T, p. 328). (No further information on him at this time). Virginia Duncan Ray died 19 January 1974 in Citizens General Hospital in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. According to her death record, she had lived in Greenville 6 years; she was a PBX operator for the hospital. Joe Rutherford was the informant on that record. That document also teels us that she is buried in Grove Hill Memorial Park.
     
  6. Charlotte Maud Duncan was born 14 August 1891 in Texas and died 27 December 1966. She was buried 28 December 1966 in Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.

    December 30, 1966

       Miss Maude Duncan, 75, of Dallas, died Tuesday, December 27, 1966, at 5:00 AM following a long illness.
       Miss Duncan, born in 1891, was a former resident of Hunt County. She was a retired federal government employee.
    Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Ray of Dallas, with whom Miss Duncan made her home; Mrs. O. O. Pinkerton, Celeste, and Mrs. Ed Rutherford of Greenville, and several nieces and nephews.
       Services were held Wednesday at 2:30 PM at Sparkman Funeral Chapel in Dallas. Burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery, Dallas. The Rev. Wayne Mickey officiated, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Brown.

       
  7. Duncan Infant born 1894 and died 1895. The baby is buried in McWright Cemetery, southwest of Kingston in Hunt County, Texas.
     
  8. Blanche Duncan was born 22 October 1897 in Texas and died 08 October 1980 in Hunt County, Texas. She married Edward Rutherford 15 July 1928 in Hunt County, Texas (Vol: Y, p: 205). He was the son of Joseph J. Rutherford  and Margaret "Maggie" E. Cunningham. Edward was born 28 February 1903 in Hunt County, Texas and died 20 June 1973 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. They are buried in Forest Park Cemetery in Hunt County, Texas. (Sec: D, Row: 4)
     
  9. Velma Duncan was born about 1901 in Texas. (No information on her after the 1930 census where she was living with her mother in Dallas)

Joseph R. Duncan died in 1903. He is buried in McWright Cemetery, southwest of Kingston in Hunt County, Texas

Dixie Caroline Crowder died 28 June 1936 in Hunt County, Texas. She is buried in McWright Cemetery, southwest of Kingston in Hunt County, Texas
