IN MEMORY OF
MRS. ANNA M'AFEE
It
is difficult to try to write of one whose life has been a
constant expression of devotion and service. It is more
difficult when you feel so unworthy for such a task.
I know it must be
hard to try to go ahead with your daily routine when your
ever-waking thoughts are of her, and that she is gone and
never again will you see her smile and hear her welcome
voice. Sure, it won't seem like home to enter her room
and not find her there. So many times has she seemingly
been at the door of death and then came back to you, but
this time she passed through the gateway that leads to
that beautiful home over there where there'll be no more
suffering and sorrow, and good-byes are not spoken.
She bore her
sufferings patiently, making the remark as the end was
drawing near: "Isn't is awful to be this way?"
She knew her days were numbered, but appeared to be
better, and her passing came as a shock to the loved ones
who stood by. She has just proceeded you; where she has
gone you may go also.
She was your wife and
mother, my neighbor and friend. Our loss, but her gain.
Heaven is brighter and nearer since her going. She is
waiting and becons your coming. May it be yours to behold
her, to clasp glad hands in a glorious reunion where
heartaches are not felt and good-byes are not spoken.
While you are waiting that glad day, may you strive like
mother desired, and be comforted with the thought that
she was ready for the call.
She was born to Mr.
and Mrs. E. A. Thurman, Dec. 25 1882, at Cooper, Texas.
Professed faith in Christ 26 years ago, and later joined
the Star Ridge Baptist Church. Married to B. L. McAfee,
Dec 25, 1906. To this union four children were born, two
preceding her in death in infancy. She leaves to mourn
her going, her husband, two daughters, one granddaughter,
Miss Willie Lou McAfee; Mrs. Clyde Ponder and Marjorie
Lou; mother, Mrs. E. A. Thurmon, Quanah, Texas; five
sisters and two brothers, Mrs. T. M. Lewis, Dallas; Mrs.
Wess Blalock, Mrs. J. F. Sparkman, Winfield; Mrs. Ray
Detwiler, Rantoul, Kansas; Mrs. Frank Clemmons, El
Centro, Calif.; Mr. D. A. Thurman and Dr. W. E. Thurman,
Quanah. Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She died June 4, 1933.
Funeral Services were
conducted by Bro. Yeager and Bro. A. J. Findley, after
which her body was laid to rest under and embankment of
flowers in the Green Pond Cemetery to await resurrection.
