Hi! Welcome to the Legend of the Panda.
According to Chinese Legend, Panda Bears can cry.
As the legend goes, a long time ago Panda Bears were all white. The White Pandas had a friend, a young girl. She was the youngest of four sisters. The Pandas helped her as she herded her father's sheep.
One day a hungry tiger came and he wanted to eat the Pandas. The young girl tried to stop the attack, but the tiger killed the girl.
To honor the girl, Pandas rubbed black ashes on their arms. It is a sign of mourning. Other Pandas were so sad. Black ashes got unto their white fur and into their eyes because they cried so much. When they opened their eyes again, the three sisters were gone.
Because they missed their sister so much, they jumped into the river. The next day a mountain raised up with four peaks and was named "The Four Sisters". Now they stand guard over the Pandas, watch after them and protect them forever.
So, the Pandas have never forgotten the girl who cared about them so much. And so, they remain as the were, black and white.
