     Samuel was born at York Co., Pennsylvania, on 2 October 1830. He was the son of Daniel Dellinger and Magdalene Weyer. He married Jane Fetrow at York Co., Pennsylvania, on 7 November 1852. Samuel was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census at Monaghan Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania. Served during the Civil War. According to the "Codorus Chronicles", volume I, page 38, Samuel was on a list of pensioners due to an injury to his right wrist. His pension was for $8.00 per month. Date or the original allowance was May 1879. Samuel died on 11 December 1913 at York Co., Pennsylvania, at age 83. His body was interred in December 1913 at Newberry Twp., York Co., Pennsylvania, at Parkville Cemetery.

Samuel was listed on the roll as a student at United Brethren of Christ School, Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio, in 1848. Samuel, age 14, and William, age 11, were listed as pupils at the United Brethren of Christ school.. He married Mary Thompson at Ohio on 17 July 1856. Samuel died on 20 April 1916 at Kansas at age 79. He was buried in April 1916 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Blue Mound, Linn Co., Kansas.
