Headlines during October 2001

Contact has been made with another researcher (Janet Avarne) of the Thorn families in Buckinghamshire. It is hoped that we can link to this other line which was predominantly from Weedon, Bucks. Janet has helped tremendously by providing lists of data on Thorn/Thorne families in Bucks. - thanks Janet. A major and significant avenue of research has been opened.

Some time has been spent on my paternal grandmothers line which hailed from Dorset; these are the Riglar and Keats families. I have made further discoveries regarding William Keats who lived next door to Thomas Hardy (the famous author) in Higher Bockhampton. Thomas Hardy based some of his characters on members of my Keats family.

Headlines during April 2001

The Thorn Family website has been totally rebuilt and redesigned to reflect the research undertaken over the last few months. Having made the connection between the families in Hawridge and Cholesbury with the earlier times in Buckland, it has been possible to open up many new "branches" of research.

10 April 2001 - This site has been completely redesigned and new information added.

Contacts made (during 2001)

17 October 2001 - Contact made by Janet Avarne. There is a possible link to her Thorn family which descends from Richard Thorn and Elizabeth Provis, who married at Billington, Beds on March 23rd 1712/13. The major point of interest being the name Provis used as a christian name in her line, as it is in ours.
9 April 2001 - Contact made by Frank Thorn who found our site. There is a possible connection with a marriage of a Caroline Chandler to a Jabez Thorn. Caroline could be the sister of Eliza Chandler who married a Thomas Thorn. Thomas and Eliza are a part of our family. A connection to a Jabez is not currently made.
