Hi David,
I received one of your e-mails from Martha. Thought I would write you and
let you know that my parents, Harry W. Thorne and Louise E. Thorne have
travelled to England and met the family in Weedon, England. Names and
pictures are put away, but am willing to dig them out if you are

I am related to the "Thorne's of Little Gaddesden, Herts.". My maternal

I used to live in Slough never met any Thorns there. All my roots are
in Devon. Never met any in USA either but I know there are some there.

bu.29/3/1846 (81) m [28/5/1787] William THORN (THORNTON) [Shopkeeper & so
on] 5th child of Richard m Elizabeth Turril (+ variations) and I am
descended from 11th child George m Mary Ann Groom (my 3x GG) I probably
have by now have my contacts on more Gadsden info then anyone else online
+ accurate !! Frank Thorn my cousin gave me your website. I have gedcoms
from Valerie Anderson (Thorn Mormon descendant) and Karen Braggs much of
which is wrong and relies too heavily on IGI which is incomplete.

Hello David,
I've finally got around to having a close look at the Thorn website.
Congratulations on producing a really great site; all that hard work has
been worth it. This is just the kind of site I would have loved to have
stumbled upon a couple of years ago, when I first started looking for my
Thorne ancestors. I'm sure that many people will find it very useful.
What a good thing that Richard Thorn married Elizabeth Provis and not
Elizabeth Smith or Jones, otherwise we might never have discovered the
link between our two branches. When I got that first email that mentioned
the name Provis in your family, I just knew there must be a link
somewhere. Thank you for all the work you've put in to confirm it.

Your site is very interesting to me. My grandfather was Fred Thorne
from Weedon, England and his father was Provis Thorne, wife Ann King
Thorne. He came to USA when he was 24 years old and Married a lady from
Texas. They lived in Organ, New Mexico and had 5 children. My mother was
the 3rd child, Mary Ann Thorne. Diane Hamilton that you have been
corresponding with is my niece. She forwards your letters to me. I have
enjoyed the update you have sent to her and also the information that
Janet Avarne has sent to to us.

It was really neat to see a list of all my relations.
I know that my Dad (Alan George Thorne ) put in an awful lot of time &

I am looking for thorn family members my grandfather was born in Great
Gaddesden in Herts, he was a shoe maker with a shop in Markyate, he was
also a Methodist local preacher and a special constable. He has 13
children, my father is the son of his second wife. I would like to hear
from anyone who has any connection.
