The left picture shows the hawkers van used by Frederick "Arthur" Thorn, this was his first business. Looking out from the passenger window is his son (Frederick George Thorn) in his school uniform.
The 2nd from left picture shows Arthur's grocery shop at 24 Queens Avenue, Watford on the corner with Chester Road, standing at the door is his adopted daughter Marjorie Ruby Thorn. Just F. Thorn over the door.
The 3rd from left picture shows the shop now with the name F. Thorn & Son. This gives a view along Chester Road.
Right hand picture has 3 generations, "Arthur", Frederick and David Thorn about 1952/3.
