MUEHLHAUSEN, THÜRINGEN
Information on the town of Muehlhausen
This town lies between Kassel and Erfurt in the state of Thüringen which is now part of united Germany. It is northeast of Frankfurt and west of Saxony. It is famous as containing a church (Divi-Blasii-Kirche) where J. S. Bach once (1707-08) played the organ.

Relatives who emigrated from Muehlhausen: Johann Wilhelm Grupp (-4G), his wife, Johanna Maria Baer (-4G), and their two children: George Adam Grupp (-3G) and John L. Grupp (-3G).
The above family departed Bremen, Germany in the latter half of 1844 aboard the ship, Washington and arrived in New Orleans on ca. 6 Oct. 1844. Then this family settled in St. Louis. A granddaughter of the parents (Elizabeth Grupp (-2G)) became our step-grandmother.
