Her father was born in Jul. 1871 in Bond Co., IL, and he was a farmer, then a clergyman. Her mother was born in Nov. 1875 in Grant Co., KY. They married on Christmas Day 1892, perhaps in Clay County, IL. The father's parents were William Elliott Jennings and Frances Caroline Cornelius. The mother's parents were Lafayette Baird and Sarah G. Ballenger. The dates of her brother Terry are not known. Lula's middle name may be spelled Florenz in some sources.

The 1900 Fed. Census for Illinois (Hoosier, Clay County, T623_242, supv. dist. 14, enum. dist. 6, sheet 9B, lines 85-88, dwelling 182, family 186, dated 20 June) shows the family of Wesley C. Jennings, 28, born in July 1871 in Illinois, his father in ohio, his mother in Illinois. He is a farmer and owns the farm. His wife, Maggie, is 24 and was born in Nov. 1875 in Kentucky, her parents also. No occupation is given for her. They have been married 7 years and had one child, that child is still living. Their daughter, Lilly F. [Lula Florence] Jennings is 3 years old and was born in July 1896 in Illinois. Also in the household is the servant Walter M. Straud, 20 years old, who serves as a farm laborer.
Brother Otto C. Jennings (-2G) was born in IL 29 Apr. 1901. Brother Terry Peyton Jennings (-2G) was born ca 1905 in Clay County (?), IL. Sometime between ca 1905 and Nov. 1908 the family moved to Missouri. Sister Minnie P. Jennings (-2G) was born ca Nov. 1908 in Missouri, perhaps in South Fork Township, Howell County.
The 1910 Census for Missouri (South Fork Township, Howell County, supv. dist. 12, enum. dist. 89, sheet 7B, lines 57-62, welling 132, family 132, dated 29 Apr.) shows the family of Carey W. Jannings [sic! Jennings]. He is 38 years old and was born in Illinois, his father in ohio and his mother in Illinois. He is a minister. His wife, Maggie F., is 34 and was born in Kentucky, parents also. She has no occupation. They have been married 16 years and had 4 children, all still living. Daughter Lucie (?) F. Jennings is 13 and was born in IL. Son Otto C. Jennings is 8 and was born in IL; son Terrey O. Jennings is 5 and was born in IL; daughter Minnie P. is 1 year, 5 months of age and was born in Missouri.
Her father died on 10 Dec. 1914 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis at age 43. The death certificate is #40412 which is in the MO Archives. It states that he was born in 1871 in Missouri, parents are unknown, he was married, and he was a minister of the gospel. He died of a lung problem due to thrombosis of an internal artery. The undertaker was Kriegshauser (4102 Manchester). He was buried in Lutesville, MO on the 14th. The death certificate informant was a minister.
Lula and John Winge married in Hoosier Twsp., Clay Co., Illinois on 31 Jul. 1916. Then they moved to St. Louis, MO.

The 1916 St. Louis City Dir. has John A. Winge, electrician, residing at 4403a Virginia. The 1918 Dir. has John A. Winge, electrician, with a home at 4409 Virginia Ave.
She is listed with her husband in the 1920 Missouri Census (St. Louis ward 14, vol. 108, enum. dist. 283, sheet 3, line 100 and next page, dwelling 50, family 69, dated 03 January), renting at 2821 Shenandoah in St. Louis, MO. He is 27 years old and she is 23. He is an electrician in the contracting industry. He was born in Missouri, his parents in Germany; she was born in Illinois, her father in Illinois, mother in Kentucky. There are no children yet.
Their first child was born in 1921 in St. Louis, MO.
The St. Louis City Directory of 1922 lists John A. Winge, electrician, living at 2821a Shenandoah. Around 1922 they moved to Mississippi. Their daughter Irma Winge (-1G) was born on 16 Dec. 1922 in Sanatorium, Simpson County, Miss.
The Jackson, MS city directories for the years 1922-24 and 1926 are either not available or not published. The 1925 Jackson Dir. does not list any Winge families. John does not appear in the 1926 and 1927 St. Louis Directories. The 1927/28 Jackson Dir. has John Wingo [sic!] with wife Florence and 2 children, foreman at Koeneman Elec. Co., living at or in West End Acres. The 1929-30 Jackson Dir. has John A. Winge with wife Florence and 2 children, vice-president of Koeneman Elec. Co. Inc., home at 723 S. James. The 1930 Jackson Dir. has John A. Winge with wife L. Florence and 2 children, vice-pres. of Koeneman Electric, home at 374 S. Arbor Vista.
The 1930 Census for Mississippi (T626_1147, supv. dist. 8, enum. dist. 25-18, sheet 15B, lines 56-59, dated 10 April) shows Lula F., her husband and two daughters living at 374 Arbor Vista in ward 11 of Jackson (city) of Hinds County (house visited 299, family 386). Lula is 33 years old born in Illinois of a father born in Illinois and a mother born in Kentucky. She was married at age 20. She is not in school but reads, writes, and speaks English. She has no occupation. Her husband, John A. Winge, is 37 years old, born in Missouri of German parents. He was married at age 23. He is not in school but reads, writes, and speaks English. He is working as an electrician for an electric company. He was not a war veteran. They own the house which is valued at $3,500. Their one daughter is 8, born in Missouri and the other is 7, born in Mississippi; they are both in school.

Their daughter Shirley Winge (-1G) was born on 17 June 1931 in Jackson(?), Miss.
The Jackson, MS city directories for 1931 and 1933-35 are either not available or not published. The 1932 Jackson Dir. lists John A. Winge, with wife L. Florence and 3 children, vice-pres. at Koeneman Elec. Co., home at 347 S. Arbor Vista.
Her husband was mentioned in the obituary of his mother, ca 3 Apr. 1944 in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
I have a postcard from Martha (Ricklin?) to Adeline E. Winge (sister to Lula's husband), dated 10 Jan. 1946 stating that she (Martha) visited Mississippi but did not get the chance to visit Johnny. This must refer to Lula's husband since he is the only John in the immediate family of Adeline.
Her husband, John Winge, died on 12 Apr. 1947 at the Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield, Miss., 13 miles from Jackson.
Her S. S. #427-24-9436 was issued in Mississippi before 1951.
In 1954 she was still living in Mississippi because she graduated from a practical nurses' program in Jones County, MS in 1954. Here follows the image from the newspaper announcement that includes a picture.
Her death record is found on rootsweb.com. The S. S. Death Index reports that she died in Nov. 1971 when her residence was Zip Code 77019 which is in Houston, Harris County, TX. Her death is also reported in the Texas Death Index, 1903-2000 db on Ancestry.Com. which gives the exact date 08 Nov. 1971 and says she was a widow. According to a living relative she was buried next to her husband in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Jackson, Miss.

Her second daughter (Irma) married a Carl Henderson and they lived in or near Jackson. I do not know about their children. Irma died in July 1976. Carl died in July 1880. Both were buried in Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland, Miss.
Her third daughter (Shirley) married to a Teddy Prophet. Later she married a man with the surname Morgan. They lived in Eugene, Oregon. However Shirley died on 25 Oct. 2002 while living in Brookshire, Waller County, Texas. I do not know about her children, if any.
