Killed: Francis M. Kent, of the 3d Ohio Cavalry, son of Mr. Benjamin Kent of this county, was killed recently in a skirmish between the 3d Cavalry and some rebel forces in Kentucky. Among the names of soldiers who died at the Lousiville hospital from May 2d to noon of the 30th, we find those of Henry Weaver, Co. B., 38th Ohio, and Wm. Williams, Co. H, 3d Ohio Cavalry. BRYAN UNION PRESS June 6, 1862. DIED Of typhoid fever, on the night of the 11th inst., near Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in (thel field hospital of the 3d Ohio Cav., William C. rings of Co. H, after a weeks severe illness. The deceased was the youngest member of the company, being at the time of his enlistment (which was in the fall of 1861, when the regiment was organized at Monroeville, Ohio), but 15 years of age, a mere boy, but like thousands of noble youths throughout our land, when the government was assailed-causelessly assailed, by vile conspirators, and treason had rained her arm to strike, he endorsed the motto, "Aut, Mors, Aut Vita Decora," enrolled his name on the side of justice, and humanity, and volunteered if need be to die for his country. BRYAN PRESS AND LEADER April 23, 1863. Charles W. Skinner, the well known civil engineer, died Sunday morning at his residence in West Unity. He was one of the landmarks of the county having settled here over forty years ago. He served as county surveyor and did a great deal of that work in the county. He was Major of the Third Ohio Cavalry during the late war, and served with distinction. He had many friends in the county. BRYAN DEMOCRAT May 14, 1891.
