He is not listed, in the 1870 Hancock Co., KY Federal Census, with the other children who are all living together in the same household.
He is not listed in 1872 as an heir of Charity Hinds Aldridge, in court proceedings concerning the death of his maternal grandmother Mary Hinkle Hines in 1865. No issue is listed to inherit his portion.
Disclaimer: There are those who have mixed this man up with another John Wesley Aldridge who served in the Civil War . I too for a time had them confused, but finally sorted them out. The man who served in the Civil War is the son of Allen Aldridge and Jane Hall Aldridge. If you have questions concerning the parents of the John W.
