But an early LDS family history record written in the hand of her Mother Eliza Ann (Hall) Roe plainly spelled her name Gomar in several occasions. It is understood, that her father, Charles John Roe, on his mission, heard a great european singer that so impressed him that he later insisted his daughter be named after her. Gomar. She, however, most of her life thought her name was Gomer and disliked it; thinking it a mans name.

IGI gives St. Joseph, South Bend Indiana as birth place.This is incorrect. 1900 Census puts his family in Columbia City, Indiana and they are still there when his Grandfathers dies in 1904. So. Whitley is a neighboring town, and this is where my mothers says he was born. Bona & Burr lived at 825 N. 7th St. Terre Haute, Ind. in 1929
