Research has shown that there are many groups pf List's originating in many places around the world. The evidence, mainly DNA, shows that there is little if any connection between them. Having said that there is no doubt that some of the family groups, as listed as Trees in the Data Base page are or could be connected. All we have to do is prove it! |

I do not intend to "reinvent" the wheel in as much as I cannot discuss in great detail here how DNA and Genealogy can work together. There are other infinitely more knowledgeable people than I. Therefore, below, you will find a list of the most important links on the net, links which I have found to be simple, concise and, more importantly, understandable! It is after all, a very deep and technical subject. So, please browse and satisfy your own thirst for knowledge and if, at the end of it all, you carry the surname LIST or one of it's variants and you are male then please consider joining us. Who knows, we may be related! Below is a list (ever try searching the net for that name!!!) of all the varients we are interested in. If you carry one of these surnames and you are male and of course, you would like to take part, then please mail me. It matters not where in the world you live. Note that there is no evidence to date that the name LAST is actually a varient of LIST but the LASTs carry many of the common first names of the LISTs and appear through the ages in Suffolk, England, as do the LISTs. Note that the name FRY, whilst appearing to be way off, is the result of a LIST changing his name to FRY back in the late 1800's. (See Charles LIST (FRY) 1875-1966, Tree 1)

| Family Tree DNA | This is our chosen testing laboratory for the DNA project. This site has many links and very useful information regarding genetics and family history. |
| The List DNA Project | This is the most important link since it takes you directly to The List DNA Project web site, a site provided by Family Tree DNA whom I have chosen to carry out our DNA tests. Here you will see the members and their results, matches, etc. |
| Y-Search | In order to allow people that have tested with the different companies to make their results available for comparison, Family Tree DNA is offering Ysearch as a free public service. They have added several tools that allow you to compare side-by-side different users - the YsearchCompare - as well as generate a Genetic Distance™ Report, and many other features. My own results have been added to this data base. |
| Y-Base | A completely open data base in which anyone can add their own DNA test results in the hope of finding a match. My own have been added to this data base. |
| The Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation | The Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation (SMGF) is a nonprofit organization that was founded to build a correlated genetic and genealogical database. The database maintains strict confidentiality of participants' information while linking individuals together in “relationship trees” based on their DNA. As the SMGF database grows, it will facilitate the following goals: |

| Time to most recent common ancestor calculator. | The goal is to use genetic markers (here on the Y chromosome) to estimate the TMRCA, the Time to the Most Recent Common Ancestor (MRCA), which is how many generations the two Y chromosomes are from a common ancestor. |
| The National Human Genome Research Institute. | The National Human Genome Research Institute led the Human Genome Project for the National Institutes of Health, which culminated in the completion of the full human genome sequence in April 2003. Now, NHGRI moves forward into the genomic era with research aimed at improving human health and fighting disease. |
| Genetics & Genealogy | Y CHROMOSOME DNA AND THE Y LINE; by Thomas H. Roderick, PhD, Center for Human Genetics. Some more interesting links on this site. |
| World Families Network | Where Genealogy meets DNA testing. An excellentb site giving many insights and interactive tools for linking traditional research methods with DNA technolwledgy. |
| The Genographic Project | In partnership with FTDNA and Spencer Wells (The Journey of Man) National Geographic is in search of our ancient roots. Very interesting, informative and well worth the read. |
