James Pleasant Lovvorn was born August 2, 1824 in Newton Co., Georgia. His first marriage was to a Price, who died and was burned in Newton County. He then married Mary Underwood and to this union was born Sanford and Amanda. Mary died and was buried in Newton County. He then married Mary's younger sister, Jane Underwood, daughter of Robert Underwood, in the 1850's in Newton County. Their children were: Georgia Ann, Richard Davis, Sarah, Nancy, Eliza, and James (Jim).
The family moved from Newton County, Georgia to Clay County, Alabama. When Jane Underwood Lovvorn died, she was buried in the Mount Olive Cenetery in Clay County, where James Pleasant was buried when he died February 11, 1900. After the death of Jane, Plez then married his fourth wife, Martha Causey.
James Pleasant Lovvorn served as a Confederate soldier during the Civil War.
