Narrative

Thomas was the son of Thomas Sims Senior and Laura Cannon. He was born December 16, 1979 in Clay County, Alabama. His father died shortly after his birth and Thomas was reared by is grandfather Sims, following his mother's marriage to Richard Davis Lovvorn. Thomas first married Melvinia Pettis. After his first wife's death, he married her sister Tancy Pettis, who died giving birthh to their daughter, Laura in 1899. Mary Clark became the third wife of Thomas Sims. She gave birth to twins, Grace and Crady and also Thurma and Gozy. Following the death of his third wife, Thomas married Martha Caroline Harder on January 24, 1915. Caroline, who had a daughter, Prude, by a previous marriage, gave birth to J.C., Ray, Maudie, Thomas III and Bobby Joe. Thomas died March 17, 1966 and was buried March 19 near his home in the Bethleem Methodist Church Cemetery, Bexas, Alabama. Thomas was a Baptist.
