Public School Sections= SS
In 1859 there were 14 public schools...
“…There are now fifteen schools in this township, including the separate school. The people in all the sections are anxious to support them, but they do not seem aware of the necessity for providing proper libraries, maps and apparatus. Edward Murray 1859” (County of 1000 Lakes)
Info on the microfilm series of Annual reports of Local Superintendants and Local Boards of Trustees
The reports filed are for 1850-1853 and 1855-70.
The reports for 1850 - 1852 were signed by Henry Going Local Superintendent. The 1853 report is unsigned and no report was filmed for 1854. ( From the handwriting I would say it was Henry Going who wrote the 1853 note. He was still the Local Superintendent in March 1853 when he sent in the 1852 report and the handwritting looks like his.) The 1855 - 1859 reports were signed by Edward Murray Local Superintendent.
