It was moved across on my brother Brian's property[then Dawsons] across from Danny Fawcett on the 10th con.now.” Eleanor [Berry] McAdoo wrote a four paragraph recount of a concert at this school in 1931. The account... Submitted by Theresa Broeders Transcribed by Dean Snider CONCERT AT FAWCETT SCHOOL On September 1931, I went to teach at Fawcett’s School which was situated at the southwest corner of the junction of Highway 96 and the 10th line road. The school was a small building with a small enrolment. However, as the Christmas season approached, we decided to have a concert at the school. Finally the “Big Night” arrived. We had the usual program of songs, recitations and dialogue, as an added attraction we had invited Mr. David Crumley to play the bagpipes for us. He agreed to do so and everyone enjoyed his playing very much. As the evening g progressed and the program was just about over we had an unexpected and unsolicited event. The floor of the school started to collapse due to the excess weight brought about by our audience. Since there was no basement in the building it was not so serious as it might have been. There were no casualties and everyone was able to return home safely after an exciting and enjoyable evening Eleanor (Berry) MacAdoo Theresa's notes: I remember Davey Crumley as an old single man who visited on Sundays and stayed for supper quite often. He lived on the 11th Line Rd.
