Mrs. John T. MacDonald--
The funeral of Mrs. John T.
MacDonald, 74, who died at her home on
Howe Island, was held from her late residence
to St. Philomenas Church, Howe Island.
Requiem high mass was sung at 10 o'clock by
Rev. T.J. Larkin, who also read the commital
prayers at the graveside in St. Philomenas
Cemetery. Rev. J.S. Ryan of Wolfe Island and Rev.
R.A. Carey of Gananoque were present in the
sanctuary.
Pall-bearers were William White, Timothy Prior,
Bernard Cane, William B. Prior, E. Leslie Johnson
and Michael Muchmore.
Mrs. MacDonald who was born at Perth Road, the
daughter of the late James Cosgrove and Bridget
Hogan, had lived on Howe Island for the past
44 years. She attended St. Philomenas Church
and was a member of the Catholic Women's Leauge
and the League of the Sacred Heart.
Surviving her as her husband; one daughter, Ann,
of Kingston; one son, Joseph of Smith Falls;
one brother Duffering Cosgrove of Wolfe Island,
and two grandchildren.

Marie Roseanne Norris
Marie passed away peacefully at the Rideaucrest Home for the aged on August 29, 2000. She was the wife of the late Patrick Norris and daugher of the late Joseph and Amelia Sauve.
Marie was born on HOWE ISLAND where she lived until she fell ill for years ago. She attended Howe Island Separate School and Nortre Dame High School.
Raising a family on a farm enabled her to stay at home to take care of her children and help her husband work the farm. She was a wanderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Marie was a member of St. Philomena's Church and for a period of time in her younger years she was the president of the C.W.L. where she enjoyed organizing social activities. She is survived by her children Patrick (Lynda), Sheila (Matthew) Ottenhof, Thomas (Elaine), Fran Lanovaz, Anne Marie Kenny (John), Charles (Donna), and Barb (Rick) Hollywood; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Marie was predeceased by her husband Patrick and son Kieran.
The funeral was held August 31, 2000 with Father Flurey officiating. Pallbeareers were her grandsons, Len Norris, Mike Ottenholf, John Kenney, Jason Kenney, Steven Norris, Cory Hollywood, and Joe Norris.
Interment was at St. Philomena's Cemetery, Howe Island

Peacefully at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital with her family by her side on Friday March 22, 2002, Florence Stanton in her 86th year, beloved wife of the late Sturart Tisdale. Loving Mother of Robert Tisdale of Abbotford, B.C., Jennyn Branch, Kingston, and Judy Dagenais (Larry) of Orillia. Mrs. Peter Beseau
Mrs. Peter Beseau who has resided for many years on Howe Island died on Friday last after a long illness. She was well known and highly respected. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, May, Anne and Veronica, Three sons, James, Stanly and Michael. Funeral was on Monday morning after a solemn mass and librea? At St. Philomena’s church. Burial in ? Cemetery.

Ana Maria Mahoney Ledford:
The death occurred on Sept. 15, 1928 of Mrs. George Ledford of 106 Rideau St., Kingston after a long illness. She was a former resident of Howe Island but have lived in Kingston for many years. She was formerly Anna Maria Mahoney. She is survived by her husband, George, one daughter, Catherine, (Mrs. W.J. Anson) and four sons: Edward and Andrew of Maryland, George of California and Henry of Kingston. Burial took place on Howe Island. Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Very Rev. A.J. Hanley. Pallbearers were; M. McCarthy, Matthew Cox, John Pickett, James Leavis, Robert Foley and Alex Scrutton.

Peter Beseau
Howe Island Jan, 24, 1929
On Thursday, Jan 11, occurred the death of Peter Beseau. Mr. Beseau was born on Howe Island Feb 14th 1858, and had lived there all his life. He is survived by one brother John of Howe Island and three sons and four daughters. Michael of Carthage, N.Y., Stanley of Lansdowne. Mrs. G.F. Grow, Anne and Vera of Kingston, and James and Mae at home. The funeral was held on Monday morning in Ste. Philomena’s catholic church where a solemn requiem mass was sung. Rev., B.F. Staie, a nephew of Massena. N.Y. was celebrant. Rev. A.J. Hanley, as deacon, and Rev. Wm. Carty as subdeacon. Internment in the family plot at catholic cemetery.

George Ledford
George Ledford died in the city yesterday, aged seventy-eight years. Deceased was formerly of Howe Island but had lived in the city for many years. He resided at 112 Rideau Street for several years.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Joseph William Anson of Kingston and four sons, Harry, Kingston; George, California; Andrew, Baltimore; and Edward, Cincinnati. His wife pre-deceased him three years ago tomorrow.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday from his residence, 112 Rideau Street, to Howe Island Cemetery.

George Ledford
The funeral of the late George Ledford took place on Tuesday morning from his late residence, 112 Rideau Street, to Howe Island where solemn requiem mass was celebrated at ten-thirty o’clock in St. Philomena’s church by Rev. Father L.E. Staley. The funeral was quite larger attended and the pallbearers were James Leavis, Mathew Cox, John Pickett, Robert Foley, James Cox and Edward Fowler.

Mrs. John Pickett
At Howe Island, Saturday, Oct. 15 occurred the death of Mrs. Etta Pickett, wife of John Pickett, Warden of Frontenac County. Mrs. Pickett died after a lingering illness of six months.
The deceased was born on Howe Island, Oct 29th 1876, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Foley, her father being a former ward of Frontenac County. She was married to John Pickett on August 9, 1897 in St. Philomena’s Church by Rev. J.D. O’Gorman, who was then pastor of Gananoque.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Pickett is survived by four sons, John, Arthur and Richard, who reside on the Island, Colin, a student of St. Augustine’s Seminary, Toronto. Six daughters, also survive, Rev. Sister Mary Fidelma, of the House of Providence, Kingston; Rev. Sister St. Helen of The Savior, Congregation de Notre Dame, Ottawa, Misses Loretta and Alice of Flint, Mich., and Hazel and Rita of Howe Island.
Mrs. Pickett leaves six sisters and brothers; Dr. I.S. Foley and Mrs. W.A. Kelly, of Flint Mich.; Mrs. Patrick Quinn of Howe Island, Richard and John Foley of Greystone Farm, Burville, NY., and Mrs. F.A. Helin of Watertown, NY.
The funeral took place from the family residence, Monday morning at ten o’clock and from the Church at 10:30. High mass was sung by Rev. L. E. Staley, of Gananoque. The pallbearers were Robert Foley, Joseph Norris, William Prior, Lester Leavis, Edward Schneberger and Cecil Foley. Internment was made in the family plot in St. Philomena’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Robert Foley
Howe Island, June 23—Death claimed one of the much respected residents of this community in the person of Mrs. Robert Foley. She was a life-long resident of the Island, whose kindly disposition endeared her to many friends.
The funeral was held Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock to St. Philomena’s Church were requiem high mass was sung by her nephew, rev. R.C. Pickett. The libera was changed by the celebrants of the mass, assisted by the pastor, Rev. J.W. Callahan. Present in the sanctuary were Rev. Fathers Barlett, Keating, Monoghan and Boyle of Regiopolis College, Rev. James Sullivan of Kingston and rev. Father Byrne of Brewers Mills. In the congregation were three Sisters of Notre Dame Convent, Kingston, Rev. Mother Superior, Mother St. John of Sienna and Mother St. Helen of the Savior, who is a niece of the deceased.
During the mass the solo “O Sacred Heart” was impressively sung by Mrs. L.J. Walsh, of Kingston, a cousin of the late Mrs. Foley. Many mass cards and floral offerings were silent tributes of respect.
She is survived by five sons, Robert, Wilfred, Cecil, Leonard of Howe Island and Archie of Regiopolis College; also four daughters, Mrs. Bernard Murphy of Brewers Mills, Edith and Elizabeth of Howe Island and Edna of Notre Dame Convent, Kingston, one brother, John Pickett, a resident of the Island and one sister, Mrs. William Murphy of Toronto. The late Mrs. Foley was predeceased seven years by her husband, the late Robert J. Foley.
The pallbearers were, Michael Driscol, William Prior, William B. Prior, Joseph Norris, John Murphy, and John Fitzgerald. They were attended by a guard of honor formed by a student body of Regiopolis College.
The remains were interred in the cemetery adjoining the church, where the prayers at the grave were recited by Rev. Father Callahan, assisted by Rev. Father Pickett.

Stanley Beseau
Funeral of Stanley J. Beseau, 466 Barrie Street, was held Wednesday morning from the W.J. Franke funeral home to the Church of St. John the Apostle where requiem mass was sung by Rev. Francis Birns, SJ. Mr. Beseau died in Kingston last Monday. He had been in failing health for about two years.
Born on Howe Island he was a son of the late Peter and Margaret Beseau. He was a member of the Church of St. John the Apostle and the Holy Name Society.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Cleary Beseau, two sons, Jerry of Rochester, NY. And Kenneth of North Bay, two daughters, Mrs. M. (Mary) Fisher and Sheila Beseau, both of Kingston, two sisters, Mrs. G. (Lizzie) Grow, of Burlington, Va., and Ann Beseau of Howe Island, and one nephew, James Beseau of Kingston.
Pallbearers were Keneth Steacy, Ross Jones, William White, Joseph Norris, Charles Mahoney,jr., and Peter Beseau.
Internment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery and committal prayers were said by Father Birns.

--AT the Hotel Dieu Hospital on Tuesday, January 19, 1988, Ann Beseau, predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Jim, Mae, Vera, Stan, and Michael Beseau and Elizabeth Grow, fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, sadly missed by many dear friends. Friends will be received at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 49 Colborne St (at Clergy) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Mass of the resurrection in St. Philomena’s Church, Howe Island, on Friday, January 22, 1988, at 1:00 p.m. Internment St. Philomena’s Cemetery, Howe Island.

Ann deBeaupre Beseau
Howe Island
Anne deBeaupre Beseau, 93, of Providence Manor and formerly of Howe Island, who died recently at Knigston’s Hotel Dieu Hospital following a short illness, was buried at St. Philomena’s Cemetery on the island.
She was born on the island, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Beseau, and spent all but 1 ½ years at that setting.
A graduate nurse from the Hotel Dieu Hospital’s School of Nursing, she was always available to Howe Islanders in a nursing capacity.
Miss Beseau attended St. Philomena’s Roman Catholic Church.
She was a member of the Hotel Dieu Hospital’s Nurses Alumni.
Among her special interests were church work and caring for the ill.
Miss Beseau was the last member of her family, having been predeceased by three sisters, Lizzie, Mae and Vera, and four brothers, Michael, John, Stanislaus and Jim Beseau.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Rev. J. Ainslie officiated at a Mass of the Resurrection and the pallbearers were Guy and Dale Fisher, Peter and Jimmie Beseau, Jimmie McReynolds and William Hammond.
Altar boys were Richard Allmark and Marty Garrah.
