Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church
Wolfe Island, Frontenac, Ontario, Canada
Marriage Transcriptions

This project started out to aid Chris Morell in her important effort to establish relationships between Wolfe Island families—many of those families were connected by marriage. This listing establishes family relationships of those Wolfe Islanders (and other nearby islanders) belonging to Sacred Heart Church on Wolfe Island. The marriages cover the years 1824 to 1954. Prior to 1850, Wolfe Island Catholic marriages were performed and recorded by St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kingston, Ontario. Some early Wolfe Island marriages have been copied from St. Mary’s records. Other early marriages may appear as index only entries. The LDS film that serves as an index to Sacred Heart marriages is film number 2032236. Further information on parents of the married couples was found using other films. These films included LDS films 1298763, 1298764, 1298765, and 1298771. There were a few additional marriages on these films—but the handwriting or condition of the microfilm was too difficult to read and transcribe. Please order the film for additional information. The notation (dec) indicates that a parent of the bridal couple was deceased at the time of the marriage.

Each marriage listing consists of the names of the couple married, the marriage date, the groom’s parents (if listed), and the bride’s parents (if listed). Every marriage should have two entries—one entry alphabetically under the bride’s name and one entry alphabetically under the groom’s name.
