To His Excellency, Sir John Colborne
Knight Commander of the Most Honorable
Military Order of the Bath Lieutenent Governor
of the Province of Upper Canada, and Major
General Commanding His Majestys Forces therein,
He He He?
The Petition of Mary Mosier of the
Township of Wolfe Island Midland District
and Province of Upper Canada.
Humbly shewith,
That your Petitioner is a Daughter
of John Freeman, a UE Loyalist, who
resided in the / now/ United States of
America, at the commencement of the Re-
-volutionary War, and who became a Guide
to General Burgouyns Army; Afterwards
Joined Jessup's Corps, in which Corps he
served during said War and died in
Montreal in the year 1783.
That your Petitioner is Widow
of the late Lewis Mosier also, a UE
Loyalist and a Soldier in His Majestys
Service during said Revolutionary War
having joined one of the Provincial Regi-
-ments, from which, he at the close of said
War was discharged, and died on Wolfe
Island, where your Petitioner, has
resided for a number of years,

That your Petitioner has applied
twice (as will appear by the accompanying
affidavit) to the Court of General Quarter
Sessions of the Peace and obtained a certificate
each time, of her being a Daughter of said
John Freeman, which Certificates - she for-
warded to York, now Toronto (as will
also appear by the affidavit) for the purpose
of obtaining her lands but owing to some
mischance, she has never received her allowance
of land, as such Daughter of a UE Loyalist.
Your Petitioner therefore humbly
begs, that your Excellency will be pleased
to order that she shall receive the quantum
of said land, which she is entitled to as a
daughter of a UE Loyalist.
Your Petitioner also begs that
should the said John Freeman's name, not
appear on the UE Loyalist list that your
Excellency, will be pleased to direct it to be
entered on said list, as your Petitioner,
humbly hopes, that the affidavits accompanying
this Pettion, will satisfy your Excellency,
that it aught to be so entered.
And your Excellency's Petitioner
as in duty bound will ever pray.-

Mary Mosier, Sworn, deposeth, that she applied
and abtained a Certificate from the Quarter Sessions
in Johnstown about forty years ago, as a Daughter
of John Freeman UE Loyalist, which certificate
was put into the hands of Mr Sherwood, Father of
the present Judge Sherwood . She also afterward applied
and obtained a Certificate to the same purpose at
the court of Quarter Sessions in Kingston, which was
handed to Allan McLean Esq to do the needfull
with, but that she has never received any lands
upon either of these certificates, or in any shape
whatever, as a Daughter of UE Loyalist.

Midland District,
to Wit Personally appeared before me,
Robert Richardson Esquire one of His Majestys
Justices of the Peace in and for said District
Susannah Davis of the Township of Wolfe Island
in said District, widow of the late Richard
Davis of said place, who being sworn, deposith
that she is acquainted with Mary Mosure
of said Wolfe Island, widow of Lewis Mosure,
believes her to be the Daughter of John Freeman,
(late guide to General Burgoynes Army) who resided
in the United States at the Breaking out of the
Revolutionary War, Knows that said Freeman
joined Jessups Corps in said War, and that he
lost property he possessed in said United
States at the Commencement of said War. Deponent
Knows that John Freemean, went to Montreal at
the close of the War and as she hath reason to
believe, died at Montreal in the year 1783.
