To the Register of the County of Frontenac in the Midland District A memorial of a Deed of Bargain and sale, dated this twenty second day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Thirty, Between The Honorable Chares William Grant of the city of Montreal in the Province of Lower Canada, James Leslie of the same place Esquire Julia his wife, Henry George Forsyth of the city of Quebec Esquire his wife of the First part and Mary Cumming of the Town of Kingston widow of the second Part, wherein and whereby the said parties of the first part for the consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventy five pounds of the Lawful money of the Province of Upper Canada the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged have and do give grant bargain sell assign release transfer, convey and confirm unto the said Mary Cumming her Heirs and assigns, all that certain parcel or tract of land and premises situate by and being in the Township of Wolf Island in the County of Frontenac in the Province of aforesaid containing by a measurement one hundred forty acres with same more of less being composed of the North East three quarters of Lot number four in the tenth concession North of the Base line of said Township which said parcel or tact of land is butted and bounded or may be otherwise known as follows that is to say commencing eight chains and thirty three and a quarter links from a post planted at the waters edge on the limit between the ninth and tenth concession and at the North East corner of land leased to John Dawson then south thirty degrees East to the limit between lots number three and four thence along the said limit North sixty degrees East twenty four chains ninety nine and three quarters links at the limit between the tenth and eleventh concession thence North thirty degrees West thirty chains thence south sixty degrees West to the waters edge and thence along the waters edge to the place of beginning. To have and to hold that said granted premises with all the privileges and appearances? thereof to her the said Mary Cumming her heirs and assigns to their own use forever with covenants of Justice? right to transfer, freedom from encumbrances. Quiet enjoyment and general sale warranty. Subject however to the reservations and conditions contained in the original grant there of from the crown; which deed in witness by William Stevenson of the city of Quebec and Samuel Ogden of the city of Montreal gentleman and this memorial thereof as required by James Leslie one of the grantors aforesaid to be Registered pursuant to Law. In Testimony where of the said James Leslie hath ? unto this hand and seal the twenty second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one. Province of Lower Canada District of Montreal to Wit – Personally appeared before me the humble George Pyke one of the Judges of the Cases of Kings Bench in and for the District of Montreal William Stevenson of the city of Montreal gentleman who maketh oath and said that he was personally present and did see James Leslie one of the Grantors in the witness memorial mentioned duly execute the same and also that he was present and did see Charles William Grant, James Leslie, Julie Leslie, Archibald Kennedy Johnston, Maria Johnson, Henry George Forsyth and Charlott Forsyth duly sign execute this Bargain and Sale to which this memorial relates and that he this deponent is a Transcribing witness to both instruments shown before me at my chambers in the City of Montreal this 22 day of July 1831.
