Murphy group photo abt 1912
"This is a photo that Louise Daley sent me a little while ago.My
Grandmother Mary A.b1887 d1955) is sitting in the front row in the middle.
Standing behind her on the right is her sister Ellen R.b 1889 (married to
Charles E. Driscoll b1892 Howe Island)and to the left is her brother John I.
b1891 and married to Ellen L. Moran b1892. They lived in a stone house down
highway 2 on the left just before the turn off to the Howe Island ferry.
Louise's Grandmother is Margaret L. b1886 (husband John Foley b 1883 from
Howe Island). I think Louise's Grandmother is sitting on the far right
bottom row. I would date this photo about 1912 or so."

Clara O'Shea and Mary Garrah nee Murphy
"This is the photo taken at the Kingston Marine Museum
I had a
close look at the picture and the paper says Britian declares war on
Germany, therefore, if my mind is right, this photo would have been taken in
1939. This would have been a year prior to their wedding Jan 2, 1940 in
Ottawa. I always knew this was a picture of my Mother Mary A. Murphy (ne Ira
Garrah) my Mom and Dad and on the left was her friend Clara O'Shea from
Wolfe Island. As I'm sure your aware by now my Mother Mary was raised on
Wolfe Island but moved to the City of Kingston in the late 19228-29. My
Father Ira was born 1912 on Howe Island. Clara was married to Guy Eric Wells
of Wolfe Island (b1917 Wolfe Island). Clara's brother was Tim O'Shea who was the Reeve of Wolfe
Island for many years. Clara's son Kevin Wells and I have known each other
for about 20 years and never knew our Mothers were good friends.
Unfortunately her Son Kevin, very young and active Principal of a School
died from cancer just last year(2000). I just discovered that Kevin was
Clara's son."
