Center Street and Main, Marysville
From Pat McAvoy-Costin-semail 2004:
"McAvoy House

This is the former McAvoy home. The family most likely rented the
home as early as 1851. They purchased the home in 1866 from John
Hitchcock and wife. The house is right next to the Wolfe Island Post
Office which was once the site of Patrick McAvoy’s blacksmith shop.
They may have sold the home when they bought a farm at
Concession 8-2 SBL on Wolfe Island—but family members kept
buying the property back. Catherine McAvoy, Patrick’s widow,
re-purchased the home in 1890. Over the years, it was owned by
Frederick McAvoy and then Joseph McAvoy—who died in 1935.
It was sold after Joseph’s death to settle his estate.
Nine years later in 1944, Mildred McAvoy, a resident of Brownville, NY
and a granddaughter of Catherine McAvoy, purchased the home
for $44.77 (back taxes) from the County of Frontenac. Sharon O’Shea
Hogan, the Wolfe Island librarian, lived in the house as a child
and told me Mildred McAvoy rented the home to her family.
The Robert Janzer family bought the home in 1952 and still owns it
today. I got the rest of the information from the Kingston Land Office."
