William O. Prior and 3rd Thrasher on Island

William O. Prior, b1891 m. Mary S. (Stella) Driscoll b1893.
Children are Earl, Doreen, Anita, Barbara.
Parents of William O. Prior were Thomas Prior b1847 and Adelia S. (n Kelly) b1856.
Grandparents of William O. Prior were John Prior b1816 and Mary (n Norris) b 1816 d 1866.
"This photo would have been taken in the early 40's on the farm where his Son Earl now resides on the South Shore of Howe Island. This very well could have been the first thrashing machine to come to the Island."

::info from Mr. Prior's son Earl with regards to this photo. He recalls that the first thrashing machine on the island was owned by the Foleys and it was powered by steam. The second Thrasher was owned by William O. Priors father Thomas Prior and it was all constructed in wood. The thrasher in this photo is all steel and would have been the third thrashing machine to be owned by someone on the island. ::

"I have vivid memories of thrashing times on the island but I also knew Mr. Prior as he was very good friends of my family for many years. My Father will always remember Mr. Prior for his thoughtfulness around the time of my Mother passing away in August 1945. Upon completing the thrashing on my Dad's farm that summer, a few weeks later Mr. Prior sent him an invoice for services rendered. Upon opening the envelope my Dad was overwhelmed with the kindness of Mr. Prior as the bill was marked paid in full. Mr. Prior was a very kind and generous person and served the community well and for a period of time was the Reeve of Howe Island."
Photo from William Prior's daughter Anita (Singard) via Wilf Garrah (comments from Wilf)
