One of the highlights of the past was the annual Sacred Heart Church picnic in July. The Kingston Whig-Standard, July 1941 gave an accounting of the event.

Chicken dinner and chicken suppers were served to more than two thousand people. During the afternoon three softball games were played. The P.W.O.R. band entertained on the grounds between games and races. For dancing after supper on the new cement tennis court, Leo Tuggey’s orchestra provided the music.
