Finding Your Friday Ancestors

Assuming your search is for the purpose of discovering where you fit into the worldwide Friday Family Tree, start by searching for your oldest known Friday ancestor. For most non-genealogists, that will be either your grandfather or your great-grandfather.

There are then two different ways to search for your ancestor. At the bottom of this page, you'll also find instructions as to how we can help you if your search fails.

• Index of Names in Family Tree. Start by doing a search in our Family Tree. You'll see that the index contains multiple levels that you must navigate through to find information on an individual family. Be careful to differentiate between the group of names in which there is the 2-p Friday spelling vs. 3-p Friday. You might want to try each, even if you believe that your family has only used one of these. Note, also, that the family tree contains only Caucasian Friday's.
  
  To navigate through the individual pages, you need to understand a few conventions used on these pages.
  .
• Search Engine. The other way to search for someone on our site is to use our search engine. Please note, however, that only the GED2HTML section contains the ancestral information, whereas these searches will list names from other parts of the site, as well.
  • If you're a web search engine novice, then try our Basic Search and enter a first name, a last name, and optionally any other identifying word (perhaps a spouse's name or a date).
  • If you are an experienced search engine user, go to our Advanced Search, review our advanced search tips so you'll know the idiosyncrasies of this particular search engine, and then apply whatever search techniques make sense to you. Within the Advanced Search, it is possible to limit the search to the GED2HTML ancestral data.

• Help from Us. If you're not successful in your search, We're always glad to help a Friday make a match between their family and the worldwide Friday Family Tree.  (As this is a Frydig/Fridig, Fridy, Fryday and Friday specific site, we have minimal data on non-Friday's and can not personally help you with that information)
        Starting with yourself, and working backwards through as many generations of Friday ancestors as are known by you, provide as much of the following that is applicable and is known, or can be estimated. Start first with your immediate family and document the following:
  • Husband's name, date and place of birth, and if applicable, date and place of death.
  • Wife's name, date and place of birth, and if applicable, date and place of death.
  • Marriage date and place.
  • Children's names, dates, and places.
  • Now repeat the above for your parents, your Friday grandparents, and as many additional Friday generations, if any, as are known to you.
