Hungarian Tourism

Evidentally he was like his father always traveling from place to place; packing his belongings and decided to come to the United States in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution

Hungarian History

He emigrated into Camp Kilmer, New Jersey and wanted to be a movie star like Tony Curtis and all those others that made it big during that time.

He was signed out by his older first cousin and husband, went to live with them until his marriage to my mom.

He had many occupations in his lifetime, but the one that he stayed with until their closing in 1992 was SENDOR BINDERY, working for Benny Sendor and his brother. He was a superintendent of a apartment complex that was owned by a Mr Weiss in Jamaica, Queens, New York, where I lived until I was 6 years old. We moved out to Long Island near Belmont Racetrack.

My father loved the Horses-not the horse itself, but the raceing factor, the betting and the tracks; whether it was the Belmont Stakes, Prequeness or the Kentucky Derby.

He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, when he wasn't working, even if it was for only pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. He loved my mother immensly and enjoyed her company twenty four hours a day. I don't know another couple that could stand each other for that long. They worked, ate, played and lived their lives together 24 hours a day. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Nick At Night and John Wayne movies. He was an avid collector: movies, cards, coins, stamps and music. Mitch Miller, Dean Martin, Al Martino, Marty Robbins and Frank Sinatra were his favorite singers.

He had the best voice I ever heard, when he was in the mood to sing. Volare was the one he sang the most.

He taught me how to arm wrestle, pick horses, play cards, play soccer, love music and live hard. He taught me that when you show dignity and pride in your job, you will be rewarded, maybe not here , but all good things come to those who earn it.

Favorite saying: You dont win respect you earn it.

Though he is gone in the physical aspect, he is within me spiritually everyday, and I am reminded of him when I look at my children who each have at least one of his attributes, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly; which also happened to be his favorite movie.

Love your dutyful daughter-Ginger
