Notes for JAMES WESTON,JR:
[weston.GED]
Our James Weston,Jr born approx.1836 in Leicester,shows up in the 1851 Census living with parents James and Sophia.{see 1851 census under his father}
When we receieved the death certificate for James Weston,Jr husband of Rosanna Trainer the death certificate plainly states his parents were James Weston and Sophia Dixon of England.
So we know for sure that our James Weston,Jr father of James,Sophie,John Henry and Fred is clearly the son of James and Sophia Dixon-Weston of Leicester,St Margarets Parish,England.
Have spoken with Professional Genealogist Dr. Angus Baxter of Canada to see if he can manage to muster up some paperwork or evidence that can prove our James Weston,Sr is the proper son of Thomas & Elizabeth Barfoot.
Recently I have been contacted by a David Ross of Leicester who claims that his wifes 3X great grandfather was Thomas Weston through son Mark, who was our James Weston,Srs older brother.
He has a website clearly stateing the facts of Thomas and Elizabeth and their children to include our James Sr. who married Sophia Dixon.
We know that James Weston,Sr was in fact a Framework knitter, same profession as his father Thomas Weston.
We also know that James Weston,Jr carried on this profession as Frame Work Knitter.
We also know that James Weston,Jrs two sons James III and Fred carried on this occupation into professional Full Fashion hosiery and Surgical Glove making in the state of Pennsylvannia.
Trying to locate as many documents as possible to substantiate these claims.
So that we may submit paperwork to England Genealogist Margaret Palmer in Leicester.
I have corresponded with all parties of the James Weston,Sr family descendents to fill them in on what David Ross has claimed.
I have also confirmed the facts on Thomas Dixon Weston, son of James Weston and Hannah Godfrey.

Notes for HANNAH GODFREY:
Hannah shows up at James Westons sister Charlottes wedding.
After receiving news on relationship between Hannah and James it has been noted that James and Hannah were married on the same day September 23,1858 as Charlotte Weston and Thomas Grant.
Charlotte Weston being James Westons sister.
Hannah shows up with James Weston in the 1861 Census in Leicestershire as wife with one daughter Rachel being one years old.
1880 USA Census Philadelphia,Pennsylvannia
Hannah shows up as being 42 years old born in England.
Three children show up with them.

Children of JAMES WESTON and HANNAH GODFREY are:
i. RACHEL7 WESTON3, b. June 1859, Leicester, Leicestershire3; d. August 17, 1886, Philadelphia, Pennsylvannia buried Greenmount Cemetery3; m. (UNKNOWN) SHIELDS3.
Notes for RACHEL WESTON:
[weston.GED]
Not much is known about Rachel at this time other than she was born in 1860 possibly in Leicester,Leicstershire,England and was baptised at St. Margarets Parish.
She shows up in the 1861 British census for this particular Parish as 1 years old.
The next time a Rachel is mentioned to this James Weston is a Rachel Shields buried at Greenmount Cemetery alongside James.
Well,it seems to me that Rachel Shields is the daughter of James and Hannah.
Now that we have confirmed the death of Hannah Godfrey-Weston as Anna Weston who is also buried at Greenmount alongside James then I can only assume that their daughter Rachel is also buried with them.
Everyone at Greenmount cemetery plot had some type of family relationship with James Weston.
So I believe at this time that Rachel Shields is Rachel Weston-Shields;daughter of James and Hannah(Anna)Weston.
Death certificate available on hand.
Date of Death Aug 17,1886 buried Aug 21st 1886 at Greenmount Cemetery.
Death Certificate states that she was born in Philadelphia,PA highly doubtful unless James Weston and Hannah were in Philadelphia in 1860.
Need to check out any birth information either in Leicester or Philadelphia.
Death certificate stated that she was 27 years old when she died making her birth 1859-1860.

ii. THOMAS DIXON WESTON3, b. Bet. 1861 - 1862, England3; d. Bef. 1945, possibly New York,New York3; m. (1) CECILIA WRIGHT3, Abt. 1890, possibly Philadelphia, Pennsylvannia3; b. Abt. 1861, England3; d. 1891, possibly Philadelphia, Pennsylvannia3; m. (2) ADA LIGGETT3, Abt. 1904, Liverpool, Lancashire, England3; b. March 18, 1879, Toxteth Park, Liverpool, Lancashire, England3; d. September 18, 1949, Toxteth Park, Liverpool, England3.
Notes for THOMAS DIXON WESTON:
[weston.GED]
Not much is known about Thomas Dixon Weston other than he is the son of James Weston,Jr and some woman, not sure if the mother was Hannah Godfrey or someone in Liverpool that James may have been with?
We do know that a Thomas Weston was born sometime between June Quarter 1861 possibly in Leicester,St Margarets Parish; which would have been after the 1861 Census,or 1862 possibly in Liverpool, so he would not have shown up until the 1871 census.
By this time James and Hannah would have already moved to the United States,Philadelphia area.
1880 Philadelphia Pennsylvannia Census shows Tom as son of James and Hannah.
His first wife Cecelia Wright whom he marries somewhere between England and Philadelphia has a son Garfield, born Oct 1,1891 in Philadelphia, born the same year as Fred Weston, son of James Weston,Jr and Rosanna Trainer-Devenney-Weston.
So my assumption is that Thomas Dixon Weston and Cecelia Wright married about 1890.
We know for a fact that Thomas lived in Liverpool,Toxteth Park; for a time and met Ada Liggett-Duncan who was a furrier. They eventually married, where I don't know as of yet and when is not sure, some time between 1901-1905 possibly New York or Liverpool,England.
Ada had a daughter from her first husband Alexander Duncan;who died at sea,Doris was born 1901 and Thomas and Ada had a son Thomas Herbert Edward Weston in 1905 also known as THE Weston or Uncle Bert.
Everyone nicknamed him THE Weston; due to the initials in his full name.
THE Weston was born in England.
Found a ships manifest with Ada Weston and two children coming from England to the Port Of New York Harbor in 1907 on the Ellis Island ships records.
Found Thomas (THE) Weston also coming in with mother only in 1906.
Uncle Bert;which he was better known as, when he was old enough he was brought back over to England, both he and Doris were raised by their maternal grandmother Margaret Liggett-Wilkinson,who lived in Liverpool.
Thomas Dixon Weston son of James and Hannah may have died in New York ,but have not located his death certificate as of Oct 2002.
According to family Thomas died here in the USA and Ada returned to England and is buried alongside her mother and sister.
NOTES: Thomas Dixon Weston
On his entry into New York Harbor he stated that his father lived in Philadelphia and that he was Naturalized in 1871 Philadelphia Common Pleas Court.
The only Weston to have done that in 1871 at all in Philadelphia was our James Weston,Jr.
So now we have confirmation of his relationship to our James Weston.
As of Sept 2002;I have solved the puzzle of Thomas Dixon Weston.
Since Hannah(Anna) Godfrey-Weston died in 1881 Nov. in Philadelphia it may well have taken James Weston,Jr for a spin and possibly he returned to England with daughter Elizabeth to be raised by other family members in Leicester? She possibly became a servant in the household of SHELTON?
Thomas Dixon Weston was already married by 1880,confirmed by 1880 Philadelphia Census.
Rachel may have married shortly after census takeing?
Have to check out British census records in 1881 and 1891 to be sure.

her brother not to go on his trip, but too late he had already left, when she returned home she found that her son James was smothered in a coal car.

My father had three Ice/Coal Delivery routes before WWII.
Tioga,Nicetown and Germantown.
During the war he had to give up one of the routes, because he didn't have enough workers.
All of John Henrys' children had to sing after supper, because he loved to hear them sing.
She remembers the first time her husband ate over,he couldn't believe people did that.
All of John Henrys' children were baptised at St.Stephens Parish in Nicetown.
Back in 1947 when Anna Marie Graham died John Henry,Robert and Theresa moved into Elizabeths' house.

There were times when Harry Harris would come over and play the piano, dad would repair strings on violins and harps, practice, basically taught himself how to play the banjo, guitar, violin, harp. He had a banjo that he had repaired and traded it in for a guitar. He played opera style music.
One time mom and dad went to the playhouse and listened to some music on stage a lady was playing the harp,my dad stood up and went up on stage and my mom said"John Henry the police are going to arrest you",he played the harp and didn't get arrested. He remembers his dad playing the piano one day when he came home from school,he told his dad"I didn't know you could play the piano"his Dad said"well what would you like me to play",I told him"Golden Days"and he even sang it.
