Scott County Mississippi contributed many of its sons to the War Between the
States. Government files show at least 274 men in Company K of the 2d Regiment
of the Mississippi Cavalry. I believe that most, if not all, of the men of Company K
were from Scott County.
In my own extended family, many members of the Harris, Burks and Manning
families served with company K. I hope these web pages are some small part of
the remembrance and honor that all who served have earned.
