Rebecca Burris was probably born in 1808 in Estill county, Kentucky.  She was the daughter of Walter Burris and Lydia Barnes. 

Rebecca married Elijah Green on March 18, 1831 in Cole co., Missouri.

Rebecca (and Elijah) apparently both died before 1850 leaving a single son Walter Green.

son? Walter B. Green was born about 1835 Missouri. He is assumed to be their child.  Walter married Amanda Jane Porter (d/o Ephraim Porter) on Nov. 19, 1857 in DeKalb co., Missouri.  The minister was his uncle William B Burris.  Evidently Walter's wife Amanda died after 1866 or they divorced.  Walter B. Green remarried to Malinda ______ and moved back to DeKalb county, Missouri by 1870.  Walter died after 1880.

  • Elijah Ephraim Green was born about 1859 in Missouri.  Note that he is named after both his grandfathers.
  • Martha E Green was born about 1862 in Kansas.
  • Mary A Green was born about 1865 in Kansas.
  • James W Green was born about 1866 in Missouri.
    Child by Malinda:
  • Joel E. Green was born 1879 in Missouri.

  Notes:

In 1850 Walter Green was living with his grandmother Lidia Burris in DeKalb county, Missouri.

In 1860 Walter, Amanda and Ephraim Green were boarders in the David Lemons household in Jefferson county, Kansas.

In 1870 Walter Green was living in the household of William & Margaret (Dalton) Thomas along with Margaret's mother Biddy Dalton.  Biddy Dalton was the mother of Martha Dalton who married Walter Burris, Jr.  Martha Dalton Burris was living in Kansas.   Ephraim Green was living with his cousin William Burris (son of William B & Basheba Burris) in DeKalb county, Missouri.  James Green was living with his grandfather Ephraim Porter in DeKalb county.  Mary R Burris was living with her aunt Mary Porter Atterberry in DeKalb county.  Mary Green may have been living with the Henry Truex family (no known relation) in DeKalb county.

By 1880 Walter, Malinda and all the children were living together in Tremont Twp, Buchanan county, Missouri.
