James is on Holly Springs Church roll for 1837-39 which indicated he was from Fayette Co, Tn. Also shows land owned in DeSoto (Tate) Co in 1860.
I will return again to go thru land records in Hernando (Desoto Co. (Tate)) as well as in Holly Springs (Marshall Co).

I just got a response to an inquiry on Prosperity Church in Fayette Co. Tn
The first Presbyterian Church in the vicinity of Hickory Withe was organized at Prosperity in 1834. This was not far from Oakland. A log building was erected at this place. In 1850 the membership was divided, and one portion went to the organization at Hickory Withe and the other to Moscow. Note Moscow is in middle of the southern part of the county.
