This cemetery is located in the southern part of Cooke County near the Grayson County line. Take FM 902 to CR 203 and drive 3 9/10 miles south and turn left on CR 234. Travel 9/10 mile to CR 243 on the left. The cemetery is located about 1 1/10 mile on the right and very near the road. An earlier survey was done by Patti Tucker in 1978. This latest survey was done on 9 Oct 2003. There are 34 unknown graves which have been marked and many more unmarked graves. The cemetery has recently been cleared of all underbrush. A historical marker at the gate reads:
" Named for John Barron (1831 - 1887), a Civil War veteran who came here from VA. and bought a good farm in 1870. Married first to Delilah Ward (died 1860s), then to Margaret McElroy. He had 15 children. About 1875, he gave land for a church - school building and this community cemetery, where he and some other members of his family were later buried. William Jenkins (1829 - 1878), who also was a Confederate veteran, is the earliest known among some 6 dozen internments. The burial ground, closed about 1920, is cared for by descendents who formed the Barron Cemetery Association in 1971."
