13. Charles W.3 Wallingford (Lebanon2 Wallingfords, Unconnected1) was born in Lebanon, York County, Maine about 1827.(149) Charles died 7 July 1908, in Somersworth, Strafford County, New Hampshire.(150) Shackford says his age was 80 years, 8 months at death, would would put him born around October/November 1827.
He married Caroline Morrill, 9 April 1850, in Somersworth, Strafford County, New Hampshire.(151) Caroline was born about 1830, in Winslow, Kennebec County, Maine.(152) (Date based on the 1850 through 1870 censuses. Calculating from her age at death would give us 8 June 1828.) Caroline was the daughter of Samuel Morrill and Mercy Wiggins.
Caroline died of heart disease, 23 October 1893, in Somersworth, Strafford County, New Hampshire, at 63 years of age.(153) Her middle initial is uncertain. It was L. in the 1850 census, A. in the 1860 census, not given in 1870, and W. on her death record.
Charles W. Wallingford appears in the 1850 through 1870 censuses of Somersworth, N.H., but is as yet unlinked in this genealogy. In 1850 he was a 23-year old laborer born in Maine, living with a Caroline L. Wallingford, 22, born Maine, who is apparently his wife as she appears with him in the next two censuses also. Also with them are Mary F. Keay, 24, Martha Keay, 18, Lydia [H.?] Brackett, 18, and Peace B. Morrill, 16 (female), all born in Maine.(154)
In 1860 Charles is a 30 (hard to read, might not be a zero on the end of the number) and a day laborer and Caroline A. (different middle initial than in 1850) is 30. With them this time is another Morrill -- Julia [O.?] Morrill, 14, born in Maine(155).
Given the fact that his wife's maiden name was supposedly Merrill and the presence of these Morrills in the censuses, it's likely that they are both supposed to be either Merrill or Morrill.
In 1870 Charles, age 42 and a railroad worker, and Caroline, age 40 and a dressmaker, are living with a Hattie F. Wallingford, age four, born N.H.(156) , who may be a daughter, although they started very late in their marriage if that is the case. She is linked to this family as a daughter only because there is at present no place else to put her.
Charles W. Wallingford and Caroline Morrill had the following child:
91 i. Harriet F.4 Wallingford was born in Somersworth, Strafford County, New Hampshire about 1865/66. Her mother's maiden name may be either Morrill or Merrill. She was aged 49, born in Somersworth on her second marriage record. She married twice. She married first, Warren J. Babbidge, by 1888. (From record of their stillborn child)
Warren was born about 1867, in Winterport, Waldo County, Maine. (From record of his stillborn child)
She married second, George H. Files, 12 May 1915, in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.(157) She was from a dressmaker from Somersworth, N.H. and he was a farmer from Berwick, Maine when they got married.
George was born 21 April 1850, in Great Falls (part of Somersworth), Strafford County, New Hampshire.(158) Great Falls is a part of Somersworth, N.H., which is where his marriage record says he was born. George was the son of William S. Files and Hulda J. Drew.
Harriet and Warren Babbidge had a daughter stillborn in Somersworth, N.H. on 14 April 1888. It was their first child.(159)
